Magnificent discovery of Peru and Ecuador! We will start first of all with the visit of Cusco, center of the Inca culture with its ruins, its Sacred Valley and the Wonder of Machu Picchu. After visiting Lima, the City of Kings, we will go along the North Pacific Coast and stop in places of great interest, such as Chan Chan, Sipán and Tumbes, without forgetting a relaxing stop on the beaches of Mancora! Cusco

In Cusco, we offer several tourist and local activities. Our experience on site will also allow you to experience the city from the inside. After the ruins of Sacsayhuaman, you will explore either the Temple of the Sun or the Inca Museum and pass through the Central Market, while strolling through the narrow streets of the Historic Center and the bohemian San Blas neighborhood.

Sacred Valley

Visit of the Sacred Valley.

We start with the weavers’ village of Chinchero where we will learn a little more about weaving and the technique of dyeing wool. We will then continue by the agronomic laboratory of Moray before visiting the Maras saltworks. We will end our day in Ollantaytambo.

Machu Picchu

Early in the morning, you take the train to Aguas Calientes and enjoy a guided tour of the Inca citadel, considered a masterpiece of Inca architecture and classified as World Heritage.

Optional: The most courageous will be able to climb the Machu Picchu mountain or the Huayna Picchu, offering at their summits a magnificent view of this Inca city so long forgotten. You will also have some time to isolate yourself and contemplate this site with the necessary calm. You then go back down towards the station to take the train back to Ollantaytambo and the bus to Cusco.

Cusco - Lima

We take our flight in the morning to Lima. After dropping off at our hotel, we leave for an exciting city tour that will take you to both Modern Lima de Miraflores and the historic part of the city, where the Ciudad de los Reyes was founded in 1535 by Francisco Pizarro.

Lima - Trujillo

This morning a transport takes us to the airport and we take our flight to Trujillo. In the afternoon we will visit the ruins of Chan Chan, of the great Chimu culture. This citadel is the largest ever built in adobe (adobe, or mud bricks). In the evening, we can relax on the beach of Huanchaco’s port and taste the day’s fishing products.

Trujillo - Tucume

In the morning, we will leave Trujillo for Chiclayo, where the magnificent Señor de Sipan Museum is located. It is the tomb where the greatest pre-Inca treasures were discovered. We will visit the museum before heading to Tucume where we will spend the night.

Pyramids of Tucume

The morning is left free to rest after more than a week of intense travel. In the afternoon we will discover the pyramids of Tucume, which were the centre of the Lambayeque civilization between 1000 and 1400 and are located right next to our hotel. We will also visit the site museum.

Mancora

After breakfast, we leave for Mancora, a famous seaside resort, especially frequented by surfers. It is an excellent place to learn this sport or just relax on the beach and in the Pacific waters. We will arrive there in the afternoon and stay 2 nights.

Mancora - Tumbes

We leave in the morning for Tumbes, the northernmost city of Peru, on the Ecuadorian border. Its main interest is the National Sanctuary of Mangroves, which we will visit in the afternoon. There is a great biological richness (birds, crustaceans, crocodiles and of course the marine flora).

Today we are changing countries! Morning departure from Tumbes for the Ecuadorian border. Once the customs formalities are settled, we will continue to Cuenca in the heart of the Andes.

Today we go to discover the last Inca site of Ecuador: Ingapirca. Back to Cuenca at the end of the day we will go to the airport to take a flight to the capital of the country: Quito.

You will go to meet the colonial city of Quito, capital of the Carras and the Incas, classified as a World Heritage Site by UNESCO. Partly built under Spanish rule, Quito will dazzle you with its architecture, its calm and its history.

Galapagos

Transfer to Quito airport to catch your flight to the Galapagos. On arrival you will be picked up for a 5-days tour that will take you to discover the islands of San Cristobal, Floreana, Isabela, Santa Cruz and Baltra. Your days will be articulated between visits to the islands and snorkeling sessions in order to enjoy the incredible Galapagos fauna. An absolutely incredible experience that will allow you to meet giant turtles, blue-footed boobies, iguanas, multicolored crabs, swim among sea lions, … 5 days in the heart of a natural paradise that you will not forget.

Tourist season

The climate varies greatly according to the regions travelled through. From April to November, the sky is clear, although light rains are always possible. In altitude, it is pleasant during the day and cold at night. So bring warm clothes, even if you can walk around in a T-shirt during the day. Beware of the sun, which is strong at high altitudes, and bring a hat, sun cream and sunglasses.

Customs formalities

No visa is required for stays of less than 90 days. You must travel with a passport that is still valid for 6 months after your stay.

Health

When visiting high altitude areas, adverse effects such as headaches, nausea, insomnia and fatigue affect some people. However, the trip is designed to allow our body to adapt gradually (increase in red blood cells).

All major cities have modern private clinics with care comparable to what we have in Europe. However, you have to pay on the spot and then ask for reimbursement from your health insurance company.

We advise you to check whether your insurance covers medical costs in the countries you visit and if not, to seek reimbursement. Repatriation insurance is compulsory.

Currency / Credit Cards

Dollars and euros are accepted in the shops of the big cities. There are exchange houses everywhere. However, it is better not to carry large sums of money with you.

Credit cards are accepted in all ATMs (visa, mastercard, diners, american express). The commission of the bancomat is between 5 and 10USD.

Tips

In the service sector, it is normal to leave a tip when you are happy with the service. Between 5 and 10% of the value of the service is usual.

Physical preparation

Whenever you travel, remember to keep fit. Even for “Discovery” trips, by preparing yourself physically you will adapt more easily to the altitude and enjoy your discoveries.

For trekking trips, develop your endurance by running or practicing your endurance several times a week.
