Cachicata Trail – Inca Quarry Trek

Cachicata Trail – Inca Quarry Trek is a three days hike in Peru. It takes you through some remote areas and ancient Inca ruins high up in the Andes. An itinerary totally off the beaten track that will take you from the village of Socma to Sacred Valley of the Incas in Ollantaytambo. 

We will be hiking through the waterfall of Perolniyoc and the sun gate of Inti Punku at a high plateau. We will also be visiting some of the Inca archaeological sites and ancient Inca ruins like Inca Quarry.

The three day Cachicata Trail – Inca Quarry Trek, takes you through high altitudes. We highly recommend you to spend a few days in Cusco before the trek to avoid altitude sickness. 

Cachicata Quarry played a significant role during the Inca civilization. Ollantaytambo houses many attractive stone works and most of these stones were carved and were carried from Cachicata. On Spanish invasion, the Incas abandoned the quarry. Even today you will see some fine pink marble stones scattered in a dismay.
